In order to protect the environment and due to the joint working efforts of all its personnel, Cementos Moctezuma received the Clean Industry Certificate [Certifcado de Industria Limpia] for its cement producing plants which is granted by the Mexican Federal Environment Protection Attorneyship [Procuraduría Federal de Protección al Ambiente (PROFEPA)].

Protecting the environment is an essential and integral part of the objectives at Cementos Moctezuma. This fact, in addition to its commitment, competitiveness, and propinquity and consistency values defines the firm’s business strategy. This approach besides producing optimal financial results, implements suitable solutions for superior environmental performance in benefit of the communities.

"Fortunately, every day our clients are more sensitive towards environmental issues and they also contribute to enhancing and caring for our planet by favoring with their respective acquisitions those products complying with such environmental demand and which we hope becomes more disseminated and understood by Mexican people," affirmed executive members of Cementos Moctezuma.

Likewise, they remarked that the opening of the Cerritos Facility at San Luis Potosí as of 2004, has allowed to continue with our expansion efforts. They highlighted that over the past 10 years we have achieved a continual growth in which we have penetrated marketplaces such as those in the States of Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, Coahuila and Zacatecas, among others.

ENVIRONMENTAL EFFORTS

Receiving the Clean Industry Certificate [Certifcado de Industria Limpia] is a very significant achievement for Cementos Moctezuma since it demonstrates its working philosophy and the result of significant cutting-edge environmental investments. As from September 2004, Cementos Moctezuma has received also the Environmental Excellence Acknowledgement [Reconocimiento de Excelencia Ambiental] which is the first recognition granted by the Mexican government to a cement manufacturing plant; this reward is ratified by de Mexican government upon handing over such certificates. This environmental performance has allowed maintaining a healthy coexistence with the environment and the community within a context of a successful business.

"At Cementos Moctezuma we have been in a continual development over the past 10 years through investments made in the most modern, efficient and environmentally-convivial cement producing plants currently acknowledged worldwide. Such growth will continue with a US$150 million investment with one more plant at the Municipality of Apazapan in the State of Veracruz. It is a proof of our reliability in the promising future for our country,” remarked Antonio Taracena Sosa, Corporación Moctezuma CEO.
