Cementos Moctezuma, with the support from its distributors, delivers assistance to the State of Tabasco

Past November 20th this year, Cementos Moctezuma and its distributors delivered to Asociación Gilberto A. C., in Villahermosa, Tabasco, over 20 tons of special assistance thanks to the support from its distributors.

Donated goods consisted of diapers, cookies, tuna, canned beans and bottled water. These provisions departed from Mexico City in a trailer furnished by another of our distributors. Donations were delivered to the In-kind Donation Center of the afore-cited Asociación Gilberto, located at the Technological University of Tabasco (Universidad Tecnológica de Tabasco) (UTT, Spanish Acronym). Under the stringent supervision by the army, a group of about 25 young students helped in receiving such donations. The Mexican Armed Forces by directions of President Felipe Calderón had the mission to watch such gathering centers to prevent robbery, misuse and squandering.

After completing such delivery, a visit was paid to the Second Section of the community Torno Largo in the municipality of Centro, Tabasco, located in the city suburbs of Villahermosa. Residents of this community lost everything: furniture, household appliances, clothes, cattle, cultures, etc., due to the rise in the waters of Carrizal River.

A group of volunteers in this community lead by Ms. Lourdes Cinta de Cantoral, local chairwomen to Asociación Gilberto, supported by students and teachers of the UTT, delivered stocks of food, long cushions, draperies and milk for babies, bottled water, clothes and footwear in an orderly manner. To carry out such deliveries, they used a census taken by the residents of the community themselves. This measure is aimed at preventing bad uses without regard to political or religious preferences.

Asociación Gilberto is a nonprofit organization founded in 1988 as a result of the hurricane with same name. It is aimed at supporting people affected by natural disasters such as the one suffered past October by the people in the State of Tabasco. The national chairwoman to this association is Ms. Alejandra Kawage de Quintana, wife of Bernardo Quintana Isaac, chairman of the construction company ICA.
