The composition of cement CPC (Cemento Pórtland Compuesto), is characterized by the addition of a greater calcáreo component with respect to the one than it can contain CPO (Cemento Pórtland Ordinario) or CPP (Cemento Pórtland Puzolánico).
The use of this type of cement, dates from more ago than 20 years in countries of Europe and America. And in Mexico, although before 1999 already east cement was used, was until that year with the sprouting of NMX (Norma Mexicana) C-414-ONNCCE, when officially it appeared in the market.
According to this norm, all the cements can contain a calcáreo material in different percentage depending on the type of cement, as long as this material has a minimum of 75% of CaCO3 (calcium carbonate), being able to be then, limestone stone or some by-product of the process.
According to this antecedent, the CPC can contain until a 35% of calcárea addition, and CPP and CPO until a 5%.
The advantages of a cement CPC, with a considerable addition of a calcáreo component with respect to the CPO with little or null addition, are the smaller hidratación heat loosening, minor probability that appears it reactions with sulphates and/or aggregates silicify-reagents, greater plasticity, minor cost and minor energy consumption.
The smaller consumption of energy, is the point that deserves greater attention, because it is fundamental for a sustainable development. The substitution of a cement CPO by a CPC contributes direct and indirectly to the care of environment, in direct form, when using less fuel, conserving with this a nonrenewable resource and generating less amount of CO2 (gas effect conservatory), and in indirect form because less electrical energy is consumed, than for the production of this, mainly in thermoelectrial plants is used a great amount of fuels that, as already it were said, they generate to his you see polluting gases, in addition to which they exhaust nonrenewable resources.
With respect to its performance, cement CPC can replace perfectly the CPO and the CPP in the sectors of the construction: houses room, streets, sidewalks, tubes, channels, prey, etc., except in the sector that is dedicated to the manufacture of great elements that require the characteristics of a cement CPO (prefabricadores), and reduced cases in the concretero sector.
In Moctezuma Cements Tepetzingo plants, in February of 2006 we initiated the cement manufacture CPC of resistant classes 30R and 40, replacing the 100% of CPO 30R and almost the total of CPO 40, is possible to clarify respectively that these cements have in addition special characteristics RS (Resistant to sulphates), BRA (Low reactivity added alkali) and RS.
The quality of these products is certified by the ONNCCE (National Organism of Normalization and Certification of the Construction and Construction).
