As of past May 9, the municipality of Apazapan, Veracruz, in presence of Mr. Fidel Herrera Beltrán, Constitutional Governor for the Sate of Veracruz and of Mr. Antonio Taracena Sosa, Managing Director to Corporación Moctezuma, the foundation stone of the Industrial Plant at Apazapan was laid.

Also present thereat were the Secretary of Economic Development for State of Veracruz: Mr. Carlos García Méndez; the holder of the Secretariat of Social Development and Environment for the State of Veracruz: Ms. Silvia Domínguez López; the Chief Executive of the Municipality: Mr. José M. Hugo Díaz Ruiz; Mr. Antonio Cosío Ariño, Representative of Corporación Moctezuma Board of Directors, as well as residents of the municipality of Apazapan, State of Veracruz, where the foundation stone was laid for this plant, which is the third one developed by the company in just a decade and that will receive an investment of about 3,000 million Mexican pesos.

This new industrial plant will have an installed production capacity of 1.3 million tons per year; it is expected that such capacity supports the development of the building industry market in Mexico regarding important areas such as infrastructure and low-income (public) housing, a boost for the economic development of the State, as well as the creation of 1,500 new jobs for its construction both in the community of Apazapan and the State of Veracruz.

Mr. Fidel Herrera Beltrán, Constitutional Governor for the State of Veracuz affirmed that “the creation of new jobs, both direct and indirect, will benefit many families; new business opportunities will be opened and this will bring about new earnings for all the population.”

In turn, Mr. Antonio Taracena Sosa, Managing Director to Corporación Moctezuma said that “this Industrial Plant is just the beginning of a solid foundation for the development of the community of the State of Veracruz, and together with the investment of the private sector will help to reinforce the social development of the State.” In addition he emphasized that: “Cementos Moctezuma is here to say in the State of Veracruz”.

Currently, Cementos Moctezuma has two Cement production Plants. One of them is located in the State of Morelos (Tepetzingo Industrial Plant); the other one is in the State of San Luis Potosí (Cerritos Industrial Plant), both of them equipped with state-of-the-art technology which results in a decreased energy-producing consumption to yield one ton of cement; leads to having in place an integral quality and security system which cares for the environment certified by several Environmental and Productivity Standards and acknowledged by the Federal Government with various awards such as the “Certificado de Industria Limpia” [Clean Industry Certificate] in both Industrial Plants and the Certificate of “Excelencia Ambiental” [Environmental Excellence] at the Tepetzingo Plant, which was the first company in the country to receive such an award.
